Michael J. Inacker (born June 15, 1964 ) is a German journalist , author and manager .

Life

After graduating from high school, Inacker studied Political Science , Public Law, and Medieval and Modern History at the University of Bonn . In 1986 he studied at the Center for International and Strategic Affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles . During his studies Inacker worked as a freelancer for Deutschlandfunk in Cologne. He did his doctorate under the Bonn political scientist Karl Dietrich Bracher on church and democracy.

From 1989 to 1990 he was a consultant in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense . Inacker began his journalistic career in 1991 as editor of Rheinischer Merkur . From 1992 to 1997 he was chief correspondent and head of the opinion section of Welt am Sonntag in Hamburg, with numerous stays in crisis areas such as Southeast Anatolia (Gulf War), Somalia, Bosnia and Croatia. In 1993 he was one of the authors of the anthology The Self-Confident Nation . After two years as head of the planning staff of the Chairman of the Board of Management Jürgen E. Schrempp of DaimlerChrysler AG in Stuttgart, Inacker became head of the capital office of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung in 2000 . In 2004 Inacker moved again to DaimlerChrysler AG and took over the management of the Politics and External Relations department. In October 2006 he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief and head of the capital city office of Wirtschaftswoche . From February 2009 to March 2012 Inacker was Head of Corporate Communication & Public Affairs at Metro AG . Since April 2012 he has been head of the capital city office and the post of deputy editor-in-chief at Handelsblatt .

In June 2013, Siemens announced that Inacker would head the corporate communications and corporate branding division from October . In August 2013, however, the Siemens Group revoked the appeal and announced that Inacker would not take up the position; instead of the head of communications, Siemens replaced its CEO.

For Inacker there was no going back to the Handelsblatt : in September, Spiegel man Thomas Tuma became his successor.

Instead, Inacker acquired a minority stake in WMP Eurocom in 2014 and, as a board member, is responsible for corporate and financial communication, political communication and litigation PR . Since February 1, 2015, he has been its CEO as the successor to Hans-Hermann Tiedje .

Inacker is chairman of the International Martin Luther Foundation . In 2003 he received the media prize for creative word creation.

Private

Michael Inacker is married to the doctor Margit. The couple has two children and lives in Kleinmachnow near Berlin.
