Michael Kanin

Michael Kanin (born February 1, 1910 in Rochester , New York , † March 12, 1993 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American award-winning screenwriter .

Life

Kanin worked with his brother Garson in various stage shows. At the same time he worked as an actor and composer for advertising films. In 1939 Kanin was hired by RKO as a scriptwriter. There he met his future wife Fay , whom he married in 1940. After joining MGM Kanin won with his partner Ring Lardner Jr. in 1943 the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the film The woman speaks of it . After another Oscar nomination ( 1959 for Reporters of Love ), Kanin turned to production. His last film work was the script for the Bob Hope film How to Commit Marriage .
