Michael Knopf (born November 22, 1961 in Hof (Saale) ; † June 6, 2006 ) was a German journalist and games critic.

Life

The local and media journalist (Frankenpost, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung) was one of the most renowned game critics in Germany. In 1991 he was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize . In 1994 he founded the Spielwiese section in the Süddeutsche Zeitung , for which siegpunkt.de created the Internet presence from 1997. From 1997 to 2001 he was a member of the Game of the Year jury , most recently as deputy chairman. Since 1997, Knopf Spiele has been reviewing in the magazine spielbox . He also wrote the book Playing , which was published by dtv in the series Small Philosophy of Passions . With his shop Tikanis , where he sold "Greek things", a gourmet newspaper put him on the list of the 100 best shops.

Knopf died of a heart attack at the age of 44 .
