Michael Kpakala Francis (born February 12, 1936 in Kakata , † May 19, 2013 in Monrovia ) was Archbishop of Monrovia .

Life

Michael Kpakala Francis was ordained deacon on August 15, 1962 and ordained a priest on January 6, 1968 . Pope Paul VI appointed him on October 28, 1976 Vicar Apostolic of Monrovia and Titular Bishop of Ausuccura .

He received his episcopal ordination from the Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Liberia , Francis Carroll SMA , on December 19 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Joseph Henry Ganda , Bishop of Kenema , and Boniface Nyema Dalieh , Vicar Apostolic of Cape Palmas .

On December 19, 1981, John Paul II raised the Apostolic Vicariate to an archdiocese and thus became the first Archbishop of Monrovia. On February 12, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
