Michael Krömer

Michael Krömer is a retired German police officer and has been the director of the Berlin Police Department for many years . In 2018 he temporarily took over the offices of police chief and police vice- president .

Career

In 1974 Krömer joined the senior police service in Berlin and passed the career test for senior police enforcement service in 1986 .

As a police adviser , he took on tasks in the situation service of Directorate 2, before moving to the Senate Department for Interior and Sport as head of the situation service there.

He then became head of Directorate 6. From 2000 to 2005, he was head of the Deployment Department at the Chief of Police, before he was appointed head of what was then Directorate 3. In 2015 he took on the same function in Directorate 5.

As a police enforcement officer , he most recently held the rank of director at the police chief and was also the longest- serving director in Berlin.

Krömer was seen as an experienced police officer and led inter alia operations on May 1st in Berlin , which, due to his sensitive tactics, earned him recognition on all sides.

After Police President Klaus Kandt was prematurely retired on February 26, 2018 , Interior Senator Andreas Geisel commissioned Krömer with the temporary performance of his duties as Police President.

On April 10, 2018, terrorism expert Barbara Slowik was finally appointed as the new police chief and Krömer was in turn charged with filling the vacant post of police vice- president.

At the end of August 2018, Krömer retired. It was ceremoniously bid farewell with a grand ceremony in the Spandau Citadel by Police President Slowik.
