Michael Krist

Michael Krist (* 1946 in Linz ) is an Austrian pianist , music teacher and full university professor .

Life

Krist began musical training at the age of seven when he got his first piano lessons. Three years later he became a student of Friedrich Wührer in Munich , with whom he later also completed his university studies at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . Participation in master classes by Erik Then-Bergh and Ludwig Hoffmann perfected his skills.

With the advancement award won in Hamburg in 1968, he was involved in numerous solo piano evenings and concerts with orchestras in the Federal Republic of Germany.

His work as a soloist and chamber musician has taken him to numerous musical centers in Europe, America, Japan and Korea. Krist played with orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra or the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and, as a chamber musician, he worked closely with Hermann Prey , which found its artistic expression in television productions, recordings and numerous joint recitals in Europe, America and Asia.

Krist has also been teaching at music colleges since 1972, in the first few years mainly in Munich, Hanover and Berlin. As a full university professor, he has been leading a concert class at the Institute for Keyboard Instruments at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1980 and holds master classes at home and abroad.

  • 1970: First prize at the Viotti piano competition in Vercelli (Italy)

  • 1972: First prize in the competition of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna
