Michael Lüth
Michael Lüth (born June 28, 1955 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Lüth ".
Life
Lüth first learned the profession of goldsmith and from 1980 studied geobotany , limnology , plant physiology and pharmacology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .
In his diploma thesis, which was supervised by Otti Wilmanns , he examined the moss communities on block heaps in the southern Black Forest . As a result, Lüth became one of the most prominent bryologists in Baden-Württemberg and Germany. Through several research trips to Romania , Greece , Iceland and South America , among others , his moss research has gained international importance. Lüth has also researched the moss vegetation of several Mediterranean islands, such as those of Crete , Cyprus , Malta and Sardinia . In 2010 Lüth went on a bryological excursion to northern India .
Above all, the publication of his " Bildatlas der Moose Deutschlands ", in which he presents the moss species with photographic representations at the site through to microscopic preparations, has received high recognition in specialist circles.
Lüth is a freelance biologist and landscape planner. His professional work focuses on: a. the mapping and description of mosses . In addition, floristry , ecology , plant sociology and nature conservation belong to his work and research areas.
