The Michael Mueller Publishing is a publisher of guide books that appeal to individual travelers judge. It was founded in 1979 by the author and publisher Michael Müller (* 1953) in Ebermannstadt , and the publishing house has been based in Erlangen since 1989 . The publisher is number two in Germany for travel guides.

history

After the publishing house was founded by Michael Müller, the first travel books appeared in 1979 in a simple layout, without photos, but with maps and illustrations drawn by himself, e.g. B. to Portugal. From 1982 the publisher also published travel literature about German regions, such as a book about Franconian Switzerland by Hans-Peter Siebenhaar.

The publishing program comprises more than 220 titles, with which Europe is thematically covered. The offer is being expanded for non-European travel destinations. The offer also includes guides for city tours and urban surroundings, some with electronic media. The publisher has been producing a GPS- oriented series of hiking guides since 2009, and since 2010 travel and hiking guides have also been offered as apps for smartphones , tablet computers and the iPod touch .

In 2013 the publisher achieved sales of 500,000 copies and a turnover of six million euros with 70 freelance authors who regularly write. The number of authors increased to 80 in 2018.
