Michael Macht (born August 28, 1960 in Stuttgart ) is a former Board Member for Production at Volkswagen and a former Board Member of Porsche Automobil Holding .

Career

Born in Stuttgart, Michael Macht is a mechanical engineer with a degree from the University of Stuttgart . After working as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering in Stuttgart , where he carried out restructuring and organizational projects for major German companies, he joined Porsche in 1990 as a specialist engine planning specialist. The then head of production Wiedeking recognized the talent of Macht in work organization and made him his advisor. In 1991 he took over the work organization department.

Even when Wiedeking became CEO of Porsche AG, which was in financial difficulties, in 1992, power remained his right-hand man. Together they examined the lean production of Japanese car companies in order to implement it at Porsche and its suppliers. Due to the productivity leaps during the conversion of the production, inquiries from external interested parties developed, whereupon the Porsche Consulting GmbH was founded in 1994 in Bietigheim-Bissingen as a Porsche subsidiary under the leadership of Macht. Within the first four years, the turnover of the highly profitable subsidiary increased tenfold to approx. 13 million German marks.

At the beginning of June 1998, Michael Macht was promoted to the Executive Board of Porsche AG, where he was responsible for production and logistics . On July 23, 2009, the supervisory board appointed Macht to succeed Wendelin Wiedeking as CEO of Porsche AG and to the management board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE.

On July 6, 2010, Porsche and Volkswagen announced that Michael Macht would be joining the Volkswagen Group Board of Management on October 1, 2010 and succeeding Jochem Heizmann as Board Member for Production. Macht's successor at Porsche was Matthias Müller , who had been Head of Product Strategy at VW until then.

On November 19, 2010, Macht was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Stuttgart.

Until August 1, 2014, Michael Macht was Chief Production Officer at Volkswagen AG. He officially resigned from the board by “mutual agreement”, but the farewell words were “cool”. His duties were temporarily transferred to the Volkswagen brand's Chief Production Officer, Thomas Ulbrich.

At the 2016 Annual General Meeting of Endurance Capital AG on August 5, 2016 in Munich, Michael Macht was elected to the multi-member supervisory board of Endurance Capital AG by resolution.
