Michael Makurath

Michael Makurath (born June 1, 1959 in Heilbronn ) is a German local politician (independent) and has been Lord Mayor of the large district town of Ditzingen since 1999 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Makurath studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Stuttgart and in 1983 passed the state examination for a degree in administrative management with a distinction. He found his first job in his hometown of Heilbronn, where he was responsible as a clerk for a redevelopment area. In 1984 he moved to Leonberg , where he became the personal advisor to Mayor Dieter Ortlieb and head of the environmental protection office. At the same time he represented the city of Leonberg in the Stuttgart neighborhood association. In 1989 he became head of the main office in Vaihingen an der Enz . In 1991 he returned to Leonberg as head of the school, culture and sports department.

politics

As a non-party candidate with the support of the SPD, Makrurath was elected Lord Mayor of Ditzingen on April 25, 1999 as the successor to Alfred Fögen , who was no longer running, and was re-elected on April 22, 2007. Another re-election for the third term took place in April 2015 as the only candidate with 95.1% of the votes.

Makurath's tenure included the construction of the new bypass roads in Hirschlanden and Schöckingen as well as the construction of the Seehansen sports facility in the Hirschlanden district and the sports hall in Heimerdingen .

Makurath is a member of the regional assembly of the Stuttgart Region Association , where he belongs to the SPD parliamentary group.

Other functions

Makurath is a member of the main committee of the German Association of Cities , Chairman of the B-Sprengels Stuttgart in the Association of Cities of Baden-Württemberg , a member of the School, Culture and Sport Committee of the Association of Cities of Baden-Württemberg, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Association of Baden-Württemberg and a member of the Finance Committee and municipal services of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities. On November 22nd, 2018 he was elected President of the Association of Baden-Württemberg Mayors. V. elected, where he had previously served as Vice President.
