Tanel Ruben

Tanel Ruben (born January 24, 1970 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian jazz musician ( drums , composition ).

Live and act

Ruben first learned the accordion and double bass in music school before switching to drums as a teenager. He worked in Europe, Russia and the United States from the mid-1990s a. a. with Anders Jormin , Dave Liebman , Brian Melvin , Ray Blue , Jukka Perko , Yasuhito Mori , Lembit Saarsalu , Kristian Blak , Andrei Kondakov , Sergey Manukyan , Leonid Vintskevich and Raimonds Pauls . With his band, which includes the singer Victoria, he recorded his debut album A Sentimental Call , which moves between acoustic jazz and nu jazz . His second album with the band project Hinkus and the singer Maarja-Liis Ilus ( Look Around ) is influenced by funk, jazz and soul music. The following production by Ruben, Collected Riches / Kogutud rikkus arose from the preoccupation with electro-acoustic music. In the field of jazz he took part in eight recording sessions between 1995 and 2014, including a. also with Raivo Tafenau, Mare Valjatag, Hedvig Hanson and the Alexey Kruglov - Jaak Sooäär Quartet.
