Michael McEachern McDowell , pseudonyms Nathan Aldyne and Axel Young (born June 1, 1950 in Enterprise , Alabama , † December 27, 1999 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was an American writer and screenwriter from the field of horror literature and horror films .

Life

Michael McDowell was born on June 1, 1950 in Enterprise , Alabama and lived in Medford , Massachusetts . In addition to novels, he also wrote film scripts , such as for the Oscar-winning Tim Burton film Beetlejuice . McDowell died on December 27, 1999 at the age of only 49 of complications from his AIDS illness. His then incomplete work Candles Burning was completed by Tabitha King .
