Michael McManus (born April 15, 1962 in London , Province of Ontario , Canada ) is a Canadian film and theater actor.

Life

Michael McManus is the nephew of Canadian actress and director Helen Shaver . His cousin is the Canadian actress Lally Cadeau. He studied acting at the University of Alberta with a degree in 1986. This was followed by training at the "Banff Center for Arts and Creativity" in Alberta . Over the next several years he played a few supporting roles in Canadian television series and films before he first took on a leading role in Atom Egoyan's film Speaking Parts in 1990, for which he was nominated for a 1990 Genie Award in Canada.

He then played in American productions such as Family Pictures (1993) and Paint Cans (1994). He became known worldwide in 1996 for his role as ex-assassin Kai in the television series Lexx - The Dark Zone .

He was last seen on screen in a leading role in the 2011 film Blissestrasse .

Michael McManus also works as a theater actor, primarily in productions in his home town of Toronto .
