Michael Sylvester Opoczynski (born December 31, 1948 in East Berlin ) is a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

After graduating from the Helmholtzgymnasium in Frankfurt am Main , Opoczynski studied political science for six years at the Goethe University in Frankfurt . From 1972 he became assistant to the Bundestag member Hans Matthöfer ( SPD ) and later spokesman for the SPD in Hesse . In 1978 he worked as a freelance copywriter for advertising agencies and the Hessischer Rundfunk .

Opoczynski has been working for ZDF since 1980 , initially in the Wiesbaden regional studio . In 1986 he came to the business magazine WISO , became its editor-in-chief and moderator in 1992. He also writes guest articles for newspapers and magazines. From September 1, 2010 he was head of ZDF's main editorial office for economics, law, social affairs and the environment , and on April 1, 2011, he was replaced by Martin Leutke on the WISO editorial team . In addition, he continued to host this weekly service program until 2014, alternating weekly with Leutke.

Opoczynski lives in Mainz , is married and has a son. He works as a moderator and as an author of non-fiction books and novels.
