Michael Petry (born August 31, 1976 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German soccer coach and former player .

Career

player

Petry started playing soccer in his hometown. In 1999 he moved to VfR Mannheim . After two years and good performances, he went to SSV Jahn Regensburg . There he played in the 2001/02 DFB Cup against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the first round and lost 3-0 to the Werkself. After only one season and eight goals in 30 games, he moved to the Kickers in Offenbach . In the 2002/03 season Offenbach reached the 2nd round of the 2003/04 DFB Cup . They beat Karlsruher SC in the first round , but then dropped out against 1. FC Nürnberg in the second round. Petry scored his first DFB Cup goal there. In the 2003/04 DFB Cup, Petry and his team were eliminated again in the first round - this time against arch rivals Eintracht Frankfurt , where Petry scored a goal.

In summer 2004 he rejoined Jahn Regensburg. In 36 games he only scored a meager two goals, which resulted in his departure to SV Sandhausen . There he was able to build on stronger times. After two years in Regensburg, he went to 1. FC Saarbrücken . There he was able to confirm his performance in the first season, but broke in the second in terms of performance, so that the separation took place. He moved to Arminia Ludwigshafen , where he made 14 goals in at least 27 games.

Trainer

He then became assistant coach of the second team at 1. FC Saarbrücken, but was still in action as a center forward. Petry hit the headlines when he shot Saarbrücken's first team to victory in the third division shortly after being substituted on. Since many of the Saarbrücken strikers were canceled, the assistant coach was brought into the first team. He took on his first head coach position in 2015 at the top division Borussia Neunkirchen . After a year he went to league competitor FC Hertha Wiesbach .
