Michael Polite

Michael Emerette Polite (born May 17,  1968 in Paterson (New Jersey) ) is a retired American / Swiss basketball player .

career

Polite played at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach ( Florida ) and from 1987 to 1991 at Florida State University in the NCAA . For Florida State he posted an average of 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per encounter in 99 missions. The second meter long winger then moved to the professional camp.

His first club as a professional basketball player was Berck Basket Club in the French second division in the 1991/92 season . From 1992 to 1994 Polite played in the Swiss Fidefinanz Bellinzona and was a leading player. In 1994 he was national champion with the team and named “Player of the Year” in the National League . With Bellinzona he also came to work in European club competitions. In the 1994/95 playing year he was in the service of Friborg Olympic .

In the 1995/96 season Polite was employed in Spain and initially represented the colors of the lower class club UDEA Algeciras, but moved in the course of the season in Spain's first division ACB to Caja San Fernando. In 1996 he returned to Switzerland. From 1996 to 2003 he played for Lugano and won the Swiss championship title with the club in 2000, 2001 and 2002. He also competed in the European Cup with Lugano.

Tege Riviera Basket was his club in the 2003/04 season, later he ran for the second division team Zurich Wildcats (2009/10) and BC Aarau (2011/12).

National team

In the course of his professional career, Polite took on Swiss citizenship and was appointed to the national team.

Private

His son Anthony also embarked on a competitive basketball career and also decided to play at Florida State University .
