Michael Rohrschneider

Michael Rohrschneider (born October 11, 1966 in Wesseling ) is a German modern historian .

Life

Rohrschneider studied medieval and modern history, modern German literature and political science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation from 1988 to 1993 . In 1997 he was awarded the doctoral thesis by Johann Georg II of Anhalt-Dessau (1627–1693). A political biography about Dr. phil. PhD. He then worked for the Acta Pacis Westphalicae . In 2005 he completed his habilitation with a DFG scholarship at the University of Cologne (subject: The failed Peace of Münster. Spain's wrestling with France at the Westphalian Peace Congress (1643–1649) ). The work was accompanied by Johannes Kunisch . In 2008 he was a research fellow at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel .

In 2009 he was a deputy professor at the University of Bayreuth . From 2009 to 2013 he was involved in a third-party funded project at the University of Salzburg . In 2011 he became an adjunct professor. In 2013 he received a scholarship from the Bühler Foundation Berlin for the use of the Gerhard Knoll Research Library of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg . From 2013 to 2016 he was a research assistant at the Chair for Early Modern History at the Historical Institute of the University of Cologne. In the summer semester of 2016 he was a substitute professor at the University of Bonn. Also in 2016, he accepted a professorship at Bonn University for the W3 professorship for Early Modern History and Rhenish Regional History and was appointed W3 university professor on October 7, 2016.

Rohrschneider is a member, among other things, of the Working Group on the History of Prussia , the North Rhine-Westphalian Working Group Early Modern Times and the Association for Anhalt Regional Studies .
