Michael Rusnak

Michael Rusnak CSsR (born August 21, 1921 in Beaverdale , Cambria County in Pennsylvania, † January 16, 2003 ) was Bishop of Saints Cyril and Methodius of Toronto .

Life

Michael Rusnak joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in, put the profession on August 2, 1942 and received on 4 July 1949, the priestly ordination . Paul VI appointed him on August 25, 1964 auxiliary bishop in Toronto and titular bishop of Tzernicus .

The Bishop of Toronto , Isidore Borecky , ordained him bishop on January 2 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Joakim Segedi , auxiliary bishop in Križevci , and Nicholas Thomas Elko , bishop of Pittsburgh .

He attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council . The Pope appointed him Bishop of the Eparchy of St. Cyril and Method of Toronto on October 13, 1980 . On November 11, 1996, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
