Athletic career

Club career

He came to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1987 via TuS Nettlingen, TuS Sulingen, TuS Syke and VfB Oldenburg . After graduating from high school, he began his career as a sports instructor in the police force and only began his career as a professional footballer at the age of 26. Between 1987 and 1997 Schulz played 243 Bundesliga games, in which he scored nine goals. After the end of his professional career, he acquired the A coach license.

Selection bets

He played seven times for the national team in 1992 and 1993 and was runner-up with the team at the 1992 European Championship in Sweden , where they lost 2-0 to Denmark in the final . Schulz had previously come to selection lessons in the German Olympic team .

successes

During his active career as a Bundesliga professional, Kaiserslautern, Bremen and Dortmund together won five championship titles, but none went to Schulz. Kaiserslautern became champions after Schulz moved to Dortmund. Dortmund won two championships after going to Bremen. It seemed that Schulz was always at the club at the wrong time and later smirked about it in interviews. Schulz finished second with Dortmund in 1992, as he did in 1995 with SV Werder Bremen. In 1993 he finished second in the UEFA Cup with Borussia Dortmund after losing to Juventus Turin in the final . At the European Championships in 1992 he was second with Germany. Schulz achieved his greatest sporting success when he won the bronze medal at the soccer tournament of the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , where he was part of the regular formation of the Olympic team .

Further career

Michael Schulz is currently working as a football expert and reporter for various television stations. In 2005 he was in a "coal pot" selection, which played in the show Helden der Kreisklasse against an amateur club. From summer 2006 to summer 2007, Schulz worked for the pay-TV broadcaster Arena , which sublicensed the Bundesliga rights to Premiere in summer 2007 . Since August 2009 Schulz has been a reporter for Telekom's IPTV broadcaster, LIGA total! , in action and works as a player consultant for the Siebert & Backs agency .
