Michael Steindl (Linguist)

Michael Steindl (born March 4, 1924 in Scheidegg ; † May 13, 2015 in Lindau (Bodensee) ) was a German linguist and writer .

Life

Michael Steindl studied German, history and geography at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1951 he joined the LMU with the work Schuld und Tod in Hölderlin's "Empedocles" poem. Attempt to interpret on the basis of the problem of guilt and death to Dr. phil. PhD. From 1952 to 1956 he was a teacher at the Schloss Salem school , then until 1967 at grammar schools in Munich and Lindau. Until 1975 he was teacher and vice rector of the German School in Rome .

From 1975 to 1983 he worked for the Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education , the joint media institute of the federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1983 he was offered a professorship for German as a Foreign Language / German as a Second Language at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . He developed contact studies for foreigners at the KU Eichstätt.

In addition to numerous specialist publications, he wrote the novels Tolfa or the awakening of the flesh , The Hearing and Terme Neroniane . In the article Gallus, Luftschiffer , he describes his childhood memories.

He lived for a long time in Möckenlohe in the Altmühltal . From 1995 to 2001 he was the chairman of the Möckenlohe-Adelschlag music association and was successfully involved in youth work. He had his retirement home in Lindau on Lake Constance.

Michael Steindl was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land and was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1987 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg and invested in the Papal Lay Order on October 17, 1987 in Karlsruhe by Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
