Michael Toppel (born August 8, 1957 in West Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

Michael Toppel initially played in various Hertha BSC youth teams until Kuno Klötzer called him to the first team before the 1978/79 season . There Toppel made his debut in a 4-1 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt when he came on for Wolfgang Sidka in the closing stages . However, he only played one more time afterwards. After he only came to two missions in the 1979/80 season, which ended with relegation , he left his hometown and went to the Austrian 1st Division at ASK Linz . Under coach Adolf Blutsch , Toppel became a regular there straight away. Even under Blutsch's successor Johann Kondert , Toppel was able to prove his nose for goals and in the 1983/84 season he became the fifth best scorer in the top Austrian league with 16 goals. After injury problems, Toppel left Linz in 1985 . With a total of 46 goals, Toppel occupies sixth place in the ranking of the most successful goal scorers at LASK.

For half a year Toppel then played on loan at FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he scored two goals in twelve games.

He then went to SV Alpine Donawitz . However, with his two goals he could not prevent Donawitz from being relegated at the end of the season .
