Michael Thomas Turner (born November 9, 1983 in Lewisham ) is an English football player on the position of defender .

Charlton Athletic

Turner began his career at Charlton Athletic , from where he was loaned to Leyton Orient for the 2002/03 season. After his one year absence, he was captain of the reserve team at Charlton Athletic for the 2003/04 season. At the end of that season he was named Charlton's Young Player of the year 2003-04 . In August 2004 he was loaned out again to collect match practice, this time only for a month, but one month became two and two became three.

Brentford

At the end of those three months with Brentford , Turner finally signed the two-and-a-half-year contract in November to commit himself permanently to Brentford. At Brentford came the successes. He was voted Best Player of the Season in 2004/05 and Supporter's Player of Season in 2005/06 .

Hull City

In July 2006, however, Turner moved to Hull City for a fee of £ 350,000 , where he signed a three-year contract. Turner was Phil Parkinson's first player he signed. Parkinson said of Turner: “He's a player that I've watched for a number of years, firstly with Charlton reserves and then obviously with Brentford. I like him a lot and believe he'll be an excellent signing for us because he's ready to play Championship football. Michael was the best central defender in League One last season and is ready to step up. ” (In German: He's a player I've been watching for several years, for the first time in the reserve team at Charlton and then at Brentford. I like him and believe he will be an excellent commitment for us because I believe he is far enough to play professional football). After a disappointing start to the 2006/07 season, Tuner's form rose steadily and at the end of the season he was one of the guarantors of success. At Hull City he developed to head of defense and was elected Hull City's Player of the year at the end of the 2007/08 promotion season . In April 2008 Turner extended his contract early for another three years. Turner played his first game in the Premier League on August 16, 2008 in Hull City's 2-1 home win against Fulham FC .
