Michael Weinreich (born September 27, 1973 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

Michael Weinreich grew up in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and, after graduating from high school in Kirchdorf / Wilhelmsburg , studied history at the University of Hamburg , which he completed with a distinction . The title of his master's thesis was "The Representation of the German Empire in Pravda and Izvestija 1939-1941". Since 2005 he has been working independently as a showman and is involved in associations of the showman's trade. Although Weinreich claims that he only works as a freelance showman , he lists the profession of historian on the voting slip for the 2020 citizenship election .

Career

Weinreich has been a member of the SPD since 2007 and has been district chairman of Wilhelmsburg-Ost since 2010. From 2011 to 2014 he was a member of the Hamburg-Mitte district assembly and was elected to the parliament in the 2015 general election in the constituency of Billstedt-Wilhelmsburg-Finkenwerder . He is chairman of the Wilhelmsburg-Veddel regional committee. He is also a member of the Urban Development and Justice Committees and the Environment and Energy Committee.

On February 23, 2020, Weinreich again succeeded in entering the Hamburg Parliament .
