Michaela Schiessl

Michaela Schießl (born December 28, 1961 in Bremen ) is a German journalist .

Life

Schießl studied journalism , political science and sports science . She began her journalistic career in 1990 as a sports editor at taz ; In 1993 she moved to the political department. From 1995 she worked for the business editorial office of Spiegel , three years later Schießl became USA correspondent in Washington DC , and from 2001 in San Francisco. In November 2003 she returned to Germany and headed Spiegel Online's capital city office . From 2004 to 2006 she was deputy head of the Germany II department at Spiegel ; since June 2006 she has been working as a reporter in the economic department.

Awards

In 2007 she won the Otto Brenner Prize for Critical Journalism for her article Not für die Welt , and the following year she took second place at the Helmut Schmidt Journalist Prize with Steffen Winter and Beat Balzli for a Spiegel article on the liquidity crisis of Sachsen LB and in 2010 she received the Georg von Holtzbrinck Prize for Business Journalism in the Print category (with Beat Balzli and Thomas Schulz).
