Michaela Schmidt (born November 27, 1983 ) is a former German ski jumper . She is one of the first women to practice ski jumping.

Career

Schmidt jumped on the Adlerschanze in Schönwald for the first time at the age of ten . In 1998 she took part in the Junior World Championships in St. Moritz . The organizers simply invited the jumpers, because the FIS had not planned this competition and wanted to prohibit participation. Schmidt's father threatened to publicly accuse the FIS of misogyny. Those responsible finally gave in and the competition was allowed to take place, even if only unofficially. Schmidt took third place. In the same year she became the Baden-Württemberg school master, leaving numerous boys behind her. In January 1999 she won an Alpine Cup . A little later there was the first ski jumping competition for women. Since 1999 there has been a Ladies Grand Prix with four competitions every winter . She won the 1999 premiere in Braunlage in one go. In the next few years she competed regularly in FIS races with varying degrees of success . At the European Olympic Winter Youth Festival 2001 in Vuokatti , she jumped to ninth place in the individual.
