In 1937 a model estate was built in the village, which was used to plan new cultivation methods during the Second World War . After the division of Germany, the first residential buildings for families and a consumer market were built here. The place became famous for its bridge, built in 1973, which was the main object in the German-language film Karlemanns Brücke . On April 1, 1973 Michaelisbruch was incorporated into the neighboring community of Dreetz. After the reunification, consumption was demolished and several families left the place. Today there is a horse breeding business in the village, which organizes several small horse shows every year.
