Mikhail Jurjewitsch Balandin ( Russian Михаил Юрьевич Баландин ; born July 28, 1980 in Lipetsk , Russian SFSR ; † September 7, 2011 in Tunoschna near Yaroslavl , Russia ) was a Russian ice hockey player .
Career
Mikhail Balandin began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Lokomotive Yaroslavl , for whose professional team he was active in the super league from 1999 to 2001 . At the same time he played in the 1999/2000 season in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, for Disel Pensa and Krylja Sowetow Moscow . The 2001/02 season began the defender at Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the Superliga, but left the club after only four appearances and joined its league rivals HK Lada Tolyatti for the next three years , including in the 2002/03 season four games for his ex-club Lokomotive Yaroslavl on the ice.
From 2004 to 2008 Balandin played two years each for HK CSKA Moscow and Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast in the super league. Then Chimik called himself Atlant Mytishchi , for whom the former junior international played between 2008 and 2010 in the newly founded Continental Hockey League .
For the 2010/11 season , HK Dynamo Moscow and HK MWD Balaschicha merged to form the OHK Dynamo , for which Balandin continued to play. In 2011 he returned to his hometown club in Yaroslavl.
On September 7, 2011, he was killed in a plane crash near Yaroslavl .
International
For Russia Balandin took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 . In this he took second place with his team. In seven games he gave one assist.
