Michal Kovář (born September 8, 1973 in Olomouc ) is a Czech football player .
Kovář started playing football at the age of seven with Sigma Olomouc . There he moved up from the A-Juniors to the professional squad in 1991 , and over the next ten years the defender completed 289 top division games for his club, scoring nine times into the opposing goal. For the 2001/02 season he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SSV Reutlingen , a year later he was signed by Bundesliga club Hansa Rostock . Kovář returned to his home club Sigma Olomouc in 2004, and was team captain in the 2005/06 season .
In the summer of 2006, Valstimil Palička took over the team, Kovář sat under the new coach with the exception of the 3rd match day, on which he played his 300 first division games in the Czech Republic, only on the bench. He moved to the 3rd division (MSFL) to Fotbal Fulnek, where he signed a three-year contract. With Fulnek he was promoted to the 2nd division in 2006/07 . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season he was loaned to the league rivals FC Hlučín, after a few weeks and before the start of the league he returned to Fulnek .
For the 2009/10 season Kovář moved to HFK Olomouc . There he played until 2013. Then was active in lower Czech leagues.
