Micheil Dschawachischwili ( Georgian მიხეილ ჯავახიშვილი , also Dshawachischwili ; alternatively მიხეილ ადამაშვილი, Micheil Adamaschwili ; * 8 November July / 20 November  1880 greg. In Zerakwi , Niederkartlien ; † September 30, 1937 ) was a Soviet writer of Georgian nationality.

life and work

Jawachishvili's first creative period spanned the years 1903 to 1908, in which he wrote about a dozen stories and novellas about the fate of the misfortune of the persecuted and oppressed.

In the 1920s he achieved greater fame in the Soviet Union with his novels, and in 1934 he came as a Georgian delegate to the First All-Union Congress of Soviet Writers.

In August 1937, Javakhishvili was tortured and shot on September 30, 1937 as a "counter-revolutionary terrorist". The relatives were also subjected to repression.

The rehabilitation took place at the end of the 1950s.

Javakhishvili's historical novel The Outlaws of Marabda was later part of the school reading in the Georgian SSR .
