Michel Ancel

Michel Ancel (born March 29, 1972 in Monaco ) is a French designer of computer games . He became known through Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil . Michel Ancel was named Knight des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France on March 13, 2006 for his life's work in the video game industry .

Career

Michel Ancel started working as a graphic designer for the French publisher and developer Ubisoft at the age of 17 . The first part of: In 1995, his greatest success probably came after three years of development Jump 'n' Run -Spielereihe Rayman .

Ancel was also involved in the development of the sequel Rayman 2: The Great Escape . In Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc he was not involved.

In 2003, Beyond Good & Evil was released , an action-adventure game, which was praised by the critics, but which was not granted any financial success. Due to difficulties with publisher Electronic Arts , director Peter Jackson handed over the development of a game for his film King Kong to Ubisoft. Michel Ancel and his team in Montpellier finally realized the project.

Through a trailer that was shown at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2006, Ancel announced the game Rayman: Raving Rabbids , a collection of mini-games specially developed for Nintendo Wii . A second part was published in 2007.

For Super Mario Maker , which was released on September 11, 2015 for the Wii U , Ancel created a separate level.
