Michel Trabant (born May 11, 1978 in Berlin ) is a former German boxer and today's boxing trainer.

amateur

Trabant started boxing at the age of ten and has completed 53 amateur fights with 48 wins, four losses and one draw. In 1994 he became the International German Junior Champion. The last amateur who was able to defeat Michel Trabant before moving to the professional camp was Jörg Thieme at the German Youth Championship in 1994.

Professional career

In 1995 Michel Trabant became a professional at Universum Box-Promotion at the age of 16 and initially boxed in light and light welterweight. In October 1997, by KO -Sieg the second round over defending champion Mike Reisman German welterweight champion. In 2002 he won the European welterweight title and defended it twice, including against the French Frederic Klose.

Then he went on September 13, 2003 against Jose Luis Rivera in the fight for the WBA title. On February 9, 2008 Trabant boxed in the USA against the undefeated Andre Berto and lost for the first time in his career prematurely when the fight was canceled by the referee after the sixth round.

Trabant has a son from a previous marriage, his brother Stephan Trabant was also a professional boxer.

From autumn 2006, Michel Trabant appeared as a joint plaintiff in a trial against his former trainer Werner Papke , who had to answer for the sexual abuse of four of his boxing students before the Berlin district court . In April 2008, Papke was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

In December 2010, Michel Trabant hit a 23-year-old visitor in the face in a Berlin discotheque after she tried to settle a dispute between Trabant's wife and another visitor. For this, Trabant was sentenced on May 29, 2012 by the Berlin district court to a fine of 1,350 euros .
