Michel de Salaberry

Michel de Salaberry (* 1940 in Gatineau , Québec ) is a Canadian diplomat . He is a descendant of the Canadian politician Charles-Michel de Salaberry .

Life

Michel de Salaberry joined the foreign service in 1975 and was deployed in Algiers, Rome and Tel Aviv . In 1994 he headed the Middle East Department in the Foreign Ministry. On July 4, 1995, he was appointed ambassador to Amman , where he was posted until September 22, 1996. On September 11, 1996 he was appointed ambassador to Tehran . On July 16, 2001, he was appointed ambassador to Cairo .

After his retirement he devoted himself to some civil society activities.

In April 2007 he was reactivated as the Representative of Canada in Kandahar senior civilian co-ordinator of the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kandahar.
