Michele Lacerenza
Michele Lacerenza (born January 7, 1922 in Taranto , † November 17, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian trumpeter and film composer , who became known through his participation in Spaghetti Westerns .
Life
Lacerenza comes from a family of musicians, his father Giacomo Lacerenza promoted as a child. Michele studied at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, which he graduated from in 1943 and where he became friends with Ennio Morricone .
After the end of the Second World War he began to work as an orchestra conductor and as a musician in revue theaters, where he a. a. worked with Carlo Dapporto and Wanda Osiris . First works as a composer were written; musical comedies, works for films and songs. For example, Lacerenza wrote the music for Fontane d'italia with Elvio Monti , which was a great success in 1962 when it was interpreted by Claudio Villa .
Morricone engaged him for the implementation of the trumpet parts of his film compositions for Sergio Leone's dollar trilogy and asserted himself against the director, who would have preferred Nini Rosso for it.
From 1966 Lacerenza was a lecturer at the "Conservatorio Umberto Giordano" in Foggia , but continued his work as a film composer. He often wrote for Alberto Cardone's films . He was also first trumpeter in the orchestra of the RAI in Rome under Enrico Simonetti .
In 2007 the documentary "A Perdifiato - Storia di Michele Lacerenza" was made under the direction of Giuseppe Sansonna.
