Michele Pellerey

Michele Pellerey SDB (born May 18, 1935 in Genoa , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and educator . From 1997 to 2003 he was rector of the Pontifical University of the Salesians (UPS) .

Life

Michele Pellerey studied mathematics at La Sapienza University and became a high school teacher for physics and mathematics in 1958. He joined the Salesians of Don Bosco and was ordained a priest on March 25, 1961 . In 1968 he became a lecturer in mathematics at the Pontifical University of the Salesians (UPS). In 1974 he was appointed associate professor at UPS , in 1978 he was appointed full professor and in 1981 professor of general education at UPS. From 1974 to 1978 he also taught technology science didactics. He attended further training in computer science in 1975 at the Belgian Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and in 1980 in psychology at the University of California, Berkeley . From 1978 to 1998 he taught general didactics and pedagogy . From 1976 to 1986 he was also director of the Institute for Education at the Pontifical University of the Salesians. From 1986 to 1989 he was Dean of the Faculty of Didactics, then again Director of the Institute for Education. From 1991 to 1997 he was deputy rector of UPS. From 1995 to 1997 he was dean of the Faculty of Social Communication. From 1997 to 2003 he was Rector of the Pontifical University of the Salesians (UPS). He has been teaching as emeritus since 2003 .

Act

In 1974 he became a member of the International Commission for the Study and Improvement of Mathematics (CIEAEM) and was Vice President from 1981 to 1985 and President of CIEAEM from 1985 to 1988. He is involved in the Mathematical Society of Italy (UMI), the American Research Education Association (AERA), the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and is a member of other scientific societies and initiatives. He is a consultant to European bodies with a focus on distance learning, distance learning and e-learning as well as development through initial and continuing vocational training.
