Michelle Concepción

Michelle Concepción (* 1970 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) is a contemporary painter .

life and work

Concepción grew up in Puerto Rico , Panama and Miami . She studied from 1988 to 1992 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago under Susanna Coffey and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She then continued her studies at the University of Barcelona and then attended the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main , where she studied under Adam Jankowski until 1995.

Since then, Concepción has lived and worked as a freelance visual artist in Offenbach am Main . It is represented at several international galleries and museums as well as at international trade fairs.

style

Concepción's works are more abstract, fantasy landscapes reminiscent of microscopic organ structures. One believes to recognize bone tissue, muscle fibers, blood vessels. The images are extremely color-intensive, which is reinforced by the contrast with dark areas. For the viewer, structures arise that make one think of microorganisms that can only be seen under the microscope.
