Personal

Appleman grew up on Long Island , where he did sports and studied. He then moved to Washington, DC , where he worked in a rehab facility. Appleman financed the money he had for playing poker by winning sports betting.

Poker career

Career

Appleman first played in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 1975 . In over 40 years in the tournament series, he won four bracelets and made it into the top 25 players in the main event several times . His best result in the main event came in 1987 when he finished eighth.
