Mickey Rentschler

Mickey Rentschler (actually Milton Edward Rentschler , born October 6, 1923 in Detroit , Michigan , † June 27, 1969 in Long Beach , California ) was an American child actor.

Life

Mickey Rentschler came from German-speaking parents. He was first known as a bird voice simulator on the radio and stood in front of the film camera for the first time at the age of about ten; at the time he had a role in His Private Secretary . This film, starring John Wayne, was released in 1933. Smaller appearances, for example in The Scarlet Letter and The Lost Jungle from 1934, Little Lord Fauntleroy from 1936 and Sergeant York from 1941, followed.

But he also took on larger tasks, such as Pinky on Radio Patrol from 1937, where he played the son of a murdered inventor. In 1938 he starred in Teufelskerle and Tom's adventures , both under the direction of Norman Taurog . In Tom's adventure he played Tom Sawyer's friend Joe Harper. At the age of 21 Rentschler ended his career after about 35 films. He was a member of the Navy and participated in World War II .

Mickey Rentschler was buried in Los Angeles National Cemetery in Division 236; his grave in row X bears the number 19.
