Mickey S. Michaels

Mickey S. Michaels (born October 9, 1931 in Santa Monica , California , † March 20, 1999 in Los Angeles , California) was an American production designer and art director .

Life

Michaels began his career on the film staff in 1969 with television. His first feature film was the disaster film Airport based on the novel of the same name by Arthur Hailey . In 1971 he was nominated for the Oscar in the category of best production design together with Alexander Golitzen , E. Preston Ames and Jack D. Moore , but the award went to Patton - Rebel in Uniform that year .

As a result, Michaels worked on three sequels, Giants in the Sky , Lost in the Bermuda Triangle and Airport '80 - The Concorde . For Lost in the Bermuda Triangle , he was 1978 again nominated for an Oscar. Michaels and George C. Webb received nothing , however, with the award going to Star Wars .

Michaels was also successful in television. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on the television series Kampfstern Galactica and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . His other television engagements include Der Chef and Notruf California .
