Midland Football Alliance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Midland Football Alliance was a regional English football league for the area of the counties of Leicestershire , Shropshire , Staffordshire , Warwickshire , West Midlands , Worcestershire and the southern parts of the county of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire . In 2014 the league merged with the Midland Football Combination to form the Midland Football League .

history

The league was founded in 1994 by the merger of numerous clubs of the two leagues West Midlands (Regional) League and Midland Football Combination into one joint operation. In the founding season, 10 clubs from each of the two leagues that were sold took part in the Alliance's game operations.

Game class structure

The Midland Football Alliance was not yet incorporated into the National League system in the first few years after its establishment , so that the master had no automatic promotion rights to a higher division. Rather, the champions were only included in the game operations of a higher-ranking league, if necessary, upon separate request. It was only with the reorganization of the National League system for the 2004/05 season that the Midland Football Alliance was officially added to the ninth league level of the system and the champions, depending on the geographical location, the right to promotion to the Northern Premier League Division One or the Southern Football League Division One granted.

More competitions

In addition to the league game operations, the Midland Football Alliance also organizes two cup competitions, the Midland Football Alliance League Cup and the Joe McGorian Cup between the league game master and the League Cup winner.

The teams of the Midland Football Alliance also have the right to participate in the FA Cup , provided they have a stadium that complies with the regulations of the English cup competition.
