Midnight Club: Los Angeles

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Midnight Club: Los Angeles is a racing game released worldwide on October 24, 2008 for PlayStation 3 , Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable . It was developed by Rockstar San Diego and Rockstar London , publisher is Rockstar Games . The game is the first offshoot of the Midnight Club series on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Gameplay

The principle of the game is to win missions in different types of races through victories or points in illegal street races. The player has to drive his vehicle through checkpoints . The difference to many other racing games, for example Need for Speed , is that the player can freely choose his route to the checkpoints. In addition, the development studio has integrated a dynamic day and night change. There are also changing weather conditions. If you drive illegally, there will be police chases.

action

In Midnight Club: Los Angeles you play a nameless character who has to establish himself in the Los Angeles racing scene . He gets to know friends and enemies who often compete against him in races. You are supported by Karol, who owns a few workshops in the Los Angeles area and provides the player with information as well as cars and car accessories. Towards the end of the game, the city champion Booke challenges the player. If you have won against him, you will also be challenged by their champions if you progress accordingly in the respective companion classes of the main game. As a city champion, Karol also gives you the opportunity to invest in your workshops. If you do this, you get all vehicles and parts for free. After you have delivered the money to Karol, the credits appear.

Special skills

Various special skills are available to the player. There are four different types: Roar, Agro, EMP and Focus. “Roar” creates a pressure wave that pushes the opposing cars out of the way. When using "Agro", the car becomes indestructible. EMP stands for electromagnetic pulse . With this special ability, the electronics of the cars in the vicinity of the player are deactivated, so that they are no longer roadworthy. The special ability "Focus" activates slow motion for a few seconds . In this way, you can steer your vehicle more specifically through the number of cars and thus gain an advantage.

cars

In the Midnight Club: Los Angeles - Complete Edition, the player can choose from 62 originally licensed sports cars, muscle cars, SUVs, police vehicles, tuner and luxury cars and 4 motorcycles. These can be painted, decorated with vinyl, extensively altered optically with modified add-on parts and improved with performance-relevant parts.

Originally, the player was also able to activate an Audi R8 and special tuning parts during the “Driving Test” on the game's website, or buy variants of the R8 that had been tuned by other players via “Rate my Ride”. However, by switching off the online functions of the game, the vehicle and the parts can no longer be preserved. However, some AI opponents still use an R8.

PSP version

The PSP version is not identical to the other versions. The cities of Los Angeles and Tokyo from the game Midnight Club II were used. The PSP version is called Midnight Club: LA Remix .
