Falk Huste (born November 6, 1971 in Greiz ) is a former German boxer . He was runner-up in the world featherweight champion in 1997 . He is the older brother of boxer Kay Huste , who became European and military world champion in 1998.

Career

Falk Huste comes from a boxing family and grew up in Berlin . At the age of 12 he started boxing with trainer Harald Lange in Hohenschönhausen . His next club was ASG Treptow . In 1989 he was GDR Spartakiadeieger (comparable to the junior championship of the GDR ).

After German reunification, Falk Huste started in the German lightweight senior championship in 1991. He reached the final battle in which he was defeated on points against Marco Rudolph from Cottbus . He started now for the BC Frankfurt (Oder) and the Box Ring Brandenburg . At that time he was a regular soldier and was trained by Karl-Heinz Krüger .

In January 1992, Falk Huste achieved a great victory as part of the BR Brandenburg team fight against BSK Ahlen when he defeated the reigning world champion Kirkor Kirkorow from Bulgaria on points. At the German championship this year he fought in the featherweight division and met Andreas Tews from Schwerin in the semi-finals , who had become Olympic champion in Barcelona a few weeks earlier . He delivered this a courageous fight, but could not prevent a point defeat (7:29).

In 1993 he became the first German featherweight champion. In the final of the featherweight he beat his Frankfurt club colleague Frank Sygmund on points (13: 6). In 1994 he repeated this title win. He defeated Daniel Prosch from Leverkusen in the final on points (22: 6). In the semifinals of this championship there was a fratricidal fight, because there he met his younger brother Kai Huste , whom he clearly defeated on points (22: 7). In the following years Kai started one or two weight classes higher, so that the brothers no longer met in the ring.

In 1994 Falk Huste also won three major international tournaments and championships. First he won the chemistry cup in Halle in featherweight. In the final of this tournament he beat the junior world champion Lorenzo Aragón from Cuba on points (11: 7). He then succeeded in winning the featherweight tournament at the World Cup in Bangkok , which in terms of the cast resembled a world championship. He defeated Olympic champion Joel Casamayor from Cuba clearly on points (31:17) in the semifinals and also beat Somluck Kamsing from Thailand on points in the final . Finally, Falk Huste also won the CISM military world championship in Tunis in the featherweight division with a demolition victory in the final over Vyacheslav Vlasov from Russia . In December 1994 he struck in the team fight BR Brandenburg against the Schwerin SC bantamweight world champion Serafim Todorow from Bulgaria clearly after Puankten.

In 1995 Falk Huste became German featherweight champion for the second time with a point win over Hakan Demir from Berlin . At this year's World Cup in Berlin, he won over Vugar Mamedow, Azerbaijan (9: 1), Telal Elchawa, Syria (9: 4) and Ramaz Paliani from Russia (8: 1) on points and then met Serafim Todorov in the semifinals , to which he was defeated this time on points (7:15). He won a World Cup bronze medal with it . At the CISM military world championships in Rome , he did not succeed in defending his title, as he lost just under points (7: 8) in the final battle against Vyacheslav Vlasov.

In 1996, Falk Huste concentrated entirely on the Olympic Games in Atlanta . He started there again in featherweight and defeated David Burke from United Kingdom (13: 9) and Ulugbek Ibragimow from Uzbekistan (8: 4) on points in his first two fights . In the quarterfinals he met Serafim Todorow again , to whom he was again defeated on points (6:14). He missed a medal and came in 5th place.

Another highlight in Falk Huste's career was his participation in the 1997 World Cup in Budapest . He fought his way up to the final, in which he was defeated by the Hungarian István Kovács on points (2: 6). That made him vice world champion .

In 1999 Falk Huste became German featherweight champion for the fourth time. In the final of this championship he defeated Enrico Köbbert from Schwerin by giving up in the 4th round. He continued his international success at the European Championships in Tampere in 2000 . There he won a bronze medal behind Ramaz Paliani , a Georgian who started for Turkey and Boris Georgiev from Bulgaria . At the Olympic Games in Sydney that same year , he unfortunately did not succeed in winning an Olympic medal. He won his first fight against the Finn Joni Turunen in Sydney, but then lost to the American Ricardo Juarez and was eliminated. He came in 9th place.

After these Olympic Games, Falk Huste ended his career as an active boxer. He trained as a trainer and works as a trainer at the sports school in Frankfurt (Oder), he is also national trainer in the DABV and responsible for the junior division.
