Miguel Aguilar Ahumada
Miguel Aguilar Ahumada (born April 12, 1931 in Huara ; † August 14, 2019 in Concepción ) was a Chilean composer and music teacher.
life and work
Aguilar studied composition at the Conservatorio Richard Wagner and at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Santiago de Chile with Jorge Urrutia Blondel and orchestration with the Dutch teacher Fré Focke . From 1963 he studied conducting with Wolfgang von der Nahmer at the Cologne Music Academy .
He taught at the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción Conservatory in 1956 and 1957 . From 1958 to 1963 he then headed this institute. He later taught as a professor at the Escuela Superiore Música in Concepción . He also worked as a music critic for the daily La Patria .
He composed the Obertura al teatro integral for orchestra (1954), chamber music, piano and vocal works as well as electronic music.
