Miguel Antonio Salas Salas

Miguel Antonio Salas Salas CIM (born September 29, 1915 in La Grita ; † October 30, 2003 ) was Archbishop of Mérida .

Life

Miguel Antonio Salas Salas joined the religious order of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary and was ordained a priest on March 24, 1943 .

John XXIII appointed him on January 16, 1961 Bishop of Calabozo . The Archbishop of Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela , Cardinal José Humberto Quintero Parra , consecrated him bishop on February 2 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Giuseppe Misuraca , emeritus apostolic nuncio in Venezuela , and Ramón J. Lizardi , auxiliary bishop in Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela .

He attended all but the third session of the Second Vatican Council . The Pope appointed him Archbishop of Mérida on August 20, 1979 . On October 30, 1991, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
