Miguel Rosisfredo Caillava (born November 14, 1953 in Rivera , † February 27, 2014 there ) was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The playing on the position of a midfielder, from Rivera, 1.70 meters tall Miguel Caillava made his debut in 1973 in the Primera División for Nacional Montevideo . In 1974 he won the Torneo 50º Aniversario de Colombes there under the Argentine coach Miguel Ignomiriello . In the Bolsos , for which he scored a total of 58 goals, he still played in the year of the championship win in 1977 and wore their jersey until 1980. In that year he moved to league rivals Club Atlético Defensor , for which he was active until 1983. During his time with the Violets, he was part of the team that decided the Liguilla Pre Libertadores in their favor in 1981 . In this competition, Caillava became the top scorer with four goals. The following year he was with Defensor Uruguayan runner-up. A station in Colombia followed . There he was under contract with Independiente Santa Fé and played nine games in 1983. However, in 1984 he returned to Uruguay and joined Defensor again. He was a regular in the team coached by José Ricardo De León that season . He then played for two seasons in Chile with Huachipato . In the 1985 season he scored three goals in the championship there. In 1986 he was in the ranks of the Montevidean association Central Español . In 1987 he ended his career with Nacional.

In the months before his death, he fought against a kidney cancer diagnosed in November 2013 , which had already metastasized to the bones, glands and lungs and led to fractures of the upper arm and thigh. His wife Fabiana López Tort then publicly called for financial support for the medical treatment and set up a donation account. Soon after, he died on February 27, 2014 at the age of 60.

National team

Caillava was also a member of the Uruguayan national soccer team . From his debut on February 27, 1977 to his last appearance on September 19, 1984, he completed nine international matches. He didn't score a goal.
