Miguel Mansilla , full name Miguel Ángel Mansilla , (born April 29, 1953 in Cerro Largo , † June 26, 2013 in Panama ) was a Uruguayan football player and coach.
Player career
society
Born in Cerro Largo near the Brazilian border, Mansilla played for Peñarol at least in 1971 . He then stood in ranks of River Plate Montevideo . There the striker Mansilla formed the attack of his team with Fernando Morena . A time at the Argentine club Chacarita Juniors followed . He then moved on to Ecuador , where he joined Deportivo Cuenca . 1977 a station at the Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa is recorded. In that year he was not only national champion, but also secured the title of top scorer.
National team
Mansilla was part of the Uruguayan junior national team , which took part in the 1971 South American Junior Championship in Paraguay and finished second. During the tournament he was used four times (one goal) by coach Rodolfo Zamora .
Coaching
After his active career, Mansilla worked primarily as a coach in Panama. There he looked after the Tauro FC in the Anaprof , the highest Panamanian league. With the club he was four times Panamanian champion in 1989, 1991, 1997 and 1998 and also won the Apertura in 2007. In 1990, as well as in 1994 as a coach of Projusa and again in 1999, he and his team were both runner-up. He also coached the Panamanian national team . For the first time he worked in this role from 1986 in the Olympic qualifications for the 1988 Summer Olympics . He made his debut on May 21, 1986 in a 2-1 win in the friendly against the Dominican Republic . He left Tauro FC in the meantime to look after the Panamanian national team again in the run-up to the 2002 World Cup. Also at least 2008 he coached Tauro FC. After Mansilla, who has also been involved in the El Salvador league during his career , had already looked after the Chorrillo Fútbol Club in Panama's first division in the 2011 Clausura , he added another title to his trophy collection with this club in the 2011 Apertura as a trainer. For Chorrillo it was the first championship win in the club's history in the top division. With this, the club also qualified for participation in the Torneo de Campeones organized by CONCACAF the following year. Also in 2012 he was the coach of this team. At least in 2013 he coached the Panamanian club SUNTRACS in Divisional B.
