Career

Gellér, who came to skiing early as the younger brother of László Gellér , won his first national title in 1965 with the team from the normal hill. The following winter he started at the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66 . However, he did not make a breakthrough yet. In the overall ranking he reached the 68th place.

At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , where his brother also competed, Gellér jumped in both individual disciplines. He reached rank 58 on the normal hill and 56th on the large hill.

At the Hungarian Championships in 1969, Gellér won his first and only national title in Nordic combined in addition to the individual and team titles in ski jumping .

At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso Gellér jumped from the large hill to 90 and 95 meters, with which he reached 35th place. From the normal hill he was 43rd after jumps on 75 and 73 meters.

At the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 he achieved the best result of his career with 53rd place in the overall ranking. In addition, he achieved his best individual result in Oberstdorf on the Schattenbergschanze with the 43rd place. However, after he was only 65 in the 1971/72 Four Hills Tournament in the following year , he ended his active ski jumping career.

After the end of his active career, Gellér worked in the catering trade. Within a few years he was one of the most famous gastronomy professionals in Budapest. Among other things, he worked at the Waldorf Astoria New York and later ran the Waldorf Astoria in Budapest .
