The Rivière Kipawa is a left tributary of the Ottawa River in the Canadian province of Québec .

The Rivière Kipawa forms the western outflow of Lac Dumoine . It flows through the lakes Lac aux Foins , Lac Watson , Lac des Loups , Lac Sairs , Lac Grindstone and Lac Hunter before reaching the 284 km² Lac Kipawa . It flows through this from southeast to northwest. The outflow of the Rivière Kipawa from Lac Kipawa near Laniel is regulated by the Laniel Dam . Then the Rivière Kipawa flows over a distance of 16 km to the west to Lac Témiscamingue 90 m below . There are numerous rapids on this last stretch of river, which are popular with whitewater canoeists and kayakers . Shortly before its mouth, Route 101 crosses the river. About the Kipawa Dam , built in 1911 , a smaller part of the outflowing water flows from Lac Kipawa over the Ruisseau Gordon directly to the Ottawa River below the Lac Témiscamingue.

The Rivière Kipawa has a total length of 177 km. The catchment area of Lac Dumoine is shared by the Rivière Kipawa with the Rivière Dumoine.

There are plans for a hydroelectric power plant that will take advantage of the difference in altitude between Lac Kipawa and Lac Témiscamingue. The water would be diverted and the lower course of the river would be missing.
