Miia Rannikmäe

Miia Rannikmäe , nee Miia Tammeorg , ( Russian Миия Ранникмяе , birth name Russian Миия Таммеорг ; born October 4, 1951 in Tartu ) is a Soviet - Estonian chemist , chemical didactic and university professor .

Life

After graduating from school in 1970, Rannikmäe studied at the University of Dorpat in the Faculty of Chemistry , graduating in 1975. This was followed by an apprenticeship in the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry (until 1977). She then worked as a teacher in schools.

In 1980 Rannikmäe returned to postgraduate studies at the University of Dorpat, became an assistant in 1981, head of the university pedagogy laboratory in 1982 and finally worked in the pedagogy department of the Philosophical Faculty . In her master's thesis , which she successfully defended at the University of Dorpat in 1996 , she phenomenographically analyzed the student's concept of chemical reaction .

In 1996 Rannikmäe joined the Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology .

2001 Rannikmäe of the University of Tartu to defense was her doctoral dissertation on scientific and technical competence in science education for doctor of natural history sciences doctorate , which she again worked at the University of Tartu. In 2003 she was a visiting scholar at the University of Iowa . In 2008 she was appointed professor . Her focus is on cognitive learning and scientific literacy . She heads the Science Education Center at the University of Dorpat.
