Michael Earnest "Red Dog" Allison (* 28. March 1961 in Fort Frances , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player , who from 1980 to 1990 for the New York Rangers , Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League has played .

Career

Mike Allison began his career as a hockey player with the Kenora Thistles, for whom he played in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League from 1976 to 1978 . During this time he also played five games for the New Westminster Bruins from the Western Hockey League . After two years with the Sudbury Wolves from the Ontario Hockey Association , the attacker was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1980 in the second round as a total of 35th player by the New York Rangers , for whom he played in the National Hockey League until 1986 .

On August 18, 1986, Allison was given in exchange for Walt Poddubny to the Toronto Maple Leafs , who gave him to the Los Angeles Kings after only 15 months in exchange for Sean McKenna . After the end of his contract with the Kings, Allison decided in 1990 to end his career at the age of 29.

His brother Dave Allison also played in the NHL. He came to 36 missions for the Montréal Canadiens in the 1983/84 season .
