Mike Gayle
Mike Gayle (born October 1970 in Birmingham , England ) is a British writer .
Life
Mike Gayle was born and raised in Birmingham. He earned a degree in sociology at the University of Salford . His actual career aspiration was to become a music journalist in London . He moved there, became a writer instead, and is also a freelance journalist for various magazines , including FHM and Sunday Times Style . Before he published his first book, he worked as a “ counselor journalist ” for Just Seventeen and Bliss . He is friends with Danny Wallace , who made him Minister of Internal Affairs in the comedy project "Kingdom of Lovely" (a so-called micronation ).
His cheerful debut novel My Legendary Girlfriend , seen by some in the wake of Bridget Jones , was a great success and translated into over 30 languages. Gayle hadn't intended to write several books, but his agent came up to him with the request to continue, so he occupied himself with the idea. He had the music industry in mind, from which he could think of some artists whose second music album had turned out better after an overwhelming success, but many whose second album fell significantly short of the breakthrough. Even if the successor Mr Commitment (Eng. Life, love and all the stuff in between ) was not quite as successful, he was able to establish himself as an author. Since then he has managed to publish a novel every one or two years.
He is the older brother of DJ and news anchor Phil Gayle .
